The friday after our first date, I was supposed to go on a date with another guy I had been dating. I of course did not want to go and had voiced this to A.E. He told me he would stick around until the guy picked me up. The guy never showed and I was so happy. So when 8:00 rolled around we decided to go hot tubing with some friends. My friends had come with us and this was the first time they had really had the chance to see us interact together. After A.E. had gone home, I was sitting on my friend Bev's bed just talking to her when out of nowhere she tells me she thinks I will marry A.E. I was shocked but I think deep down I knew it would happen as well. I was not in love with A.E. yet but everything felt different then it ever had and I liked it.
The next few weeks were spent really getting to know each other and just enjoying the time we had together. About two weeks into us dating we had not had the DTR talk but neither of us were really worried about titles. One day while sitting at his parents house I was upstairs doing homework while everyone else was downstairs watching a movie. One of his brothers friends had asked if I was A.E.'s girlfriend. A.E. proceeded to tell her that he didn't know and that we had never had the talk. I came down stairs and everyone was laughing because of a comment his brother had made about the whole thing. Long story short I started questioning what was so funny and that became the moment where we decided on our relationship. This was a huge step for A.E. because I was now his first official girlfriend. A.E. has always been scared to death of commitment and it took awhile to commit to marriage.
The next huge step in our relationship was when I went to New Mexico with A.E. for his cousins batism's. One of the only times me and A.E. were apart while we were dating was when he had gone to New Mexico to buy a truck his Uncle was selling. Needless to say when he invited me to go the second time I did not pass it up. While in New Mexico A.E. had a long chat with his uncle about us and he told A.E. that he felt A.E. should go for it and marry me. A.E. was still a little freaked out about the whole marriage thing but I am convinced this talk he had with his uncle changed our relationship for the better.
For the next few months we continued to date but I was getting a little bugged because we had been dating five months, we had already talked about marriage but A.E. had never told me he loved me. He kept telling me he knew that when those three words were said that would kick our relationship into over drive and we would be married in no time. He would always say things like "you know I do" and "I like you more than life its self" but never I love you. At this point it was early may and A.E. did not want to get married until next March (yes we had even gotten as far as to talk about dates). He kept telling me that he wanted to date the girl he married for over a year and that anything less was not acceptable. I was so frustrated and we started fighting a lot which really put a strain on our relationship.
Finally at the end of May we were at a friends house and I had made a joke and A.E. was laughing hysterically when out of no where he says "Oh man I really love you" and that was it. He kept saying that time didn't count but I totally counted it. We went ring shopping a week later and got engaged on June 16th (the only reason I remember this is because I work at the jewelry store where we got my ring and the other day I looked up the date of when it came in). I guess A.E. was right about the words I love you. And that is where I leave our story today. Next up is our engagement story. Trust me it is a good one so stick around.
