Day 15: A travel Story.

On our first trip ever to Washington State we decided to drive early in the morning to get there fairly early the next day. We filled up with gas somewhere in Idaho and thought that we would be able to make it well into Washington before we needed to fill up again.

As we are driving in the middle of nowhere Idaho we noticed that our gas tank was getting significantly low and then all of a sudden we were driving on empty. We kept praying that we would see a town we could stop in but everything was so dark and it was three in the morning. All I could think about was stoping in some little town and then it turns into a scene out of Texas Chain saw masacre.

So we keep driving and see that a town in Oregon Called Baker City is about thirty miles away....THIRTY MILES and we were already empty. We were sure we were going to run out of gas and have to walk to Baker City in the middle of nowhere. Did I mention the next 20 miles were up hill...yeah that didn't help our situation.

So I started praying and didn't stop until we reached Baker City (Which by the way, is one of my favorite little towns). We got to a gas station and suddenly remembered that you can't pump your own gas in Oregon and it was very obvious that the gas station was not open. We figured we would take a nap and wait for them to open. After about five minutes though we noticed that someone was working inside so we went in and talked to the guy.

Come to find out the gas station didn't open until five but he had felt he needed to go in early to work that day. He filled up our gas tank and sent us on our way. To this day I totally believe him being there was an answer to our prayers.
