Two weeks.

Getting to know each other

We had Ellie's two week appointment today. I can't believe she has been in our lives for this long and that we have been able to keep her alive. This whole parent thing has been the best and hardest experience so far. The first week with her was one I am okay with being done with and it was spent trying to figure each other out. Needless to say, week two has been far better and it is amazing how much we already know about our little girl. One thing that is for certain is that we are in love and this little girl consumes every thought and conversation. We think she is the most amazing thing on the planet and keep saying how we can't believe she is ours.
Some things about Ellie are:

• She hates to be swaddled. It only took us one sleepless night to figure this out.
• She will only sleep on her sides.
• She loves to have a binky for comfort.
• She is an excellent eater. I am so thankful that she is good at nursing and we are usually done with feedings in fifteen minutes.
• Speaking of eating, she is so good at it that she now weighs 8lbs 11 oz. She has gained two ounces a day since we left the hospital. The pediatrician was very impressed.
• She is a great sleeper at night. We wake up once anywhere from 2 - 4 and then we don't get up again till 6 or 7. Yes I understand this is rare and trust me I am so thankful for a good sleeper.
• She has great neck control and loves to be sitting up.
• When she is fed she is about as content as they come. She only cries when she is tired or hungry.
• Likes to be rocked to sleep. This one worries us. When we put her down she won't just fall asleep. She will go down by herself with a binky but as soon as the binky comes out she screams....We may have problems in the future.

Needless to say we have been blessed with a fairly easy baby. We love this little girl more than life itself and can't imagine our lives without her.

Bella is getting huge! She is still relatively small compared to most labs her age which is always a good thing cause we don't want a huge dog. She is still as cute as ever and we are so happy to have a dog to call our own.



These pictures are from a hike we went on the other day with my parents and their dog Harley. It was supposed to be a one mile hike with water and bridges. Needless to say that six miles later, a 3000 foot change in alttitude, no water or bridges and after hiking to the top of Centerville peak we realized we took the wrong trail. I couldn't move my legs or waist the next day and we about killed Bella.... It was a way good workout. Anyway, these are all at the top of the peak.

My dog is way cuter than your dog!

We decided to get a dog although some people probably think a baby would have been more exciting!

Her name is Bella (no not because of Twilight but because I always wanted a daughter named Isabella but AE would not got for that so he settled for a dog with that name) and she is a Black Lab! She is almost ten weeks old and so cute! She is tiny and will only get to 40 or 50 pounds. She won us over especially AE. She just looks at you with those little eyes and you fall in love. She is also super smart. She is already house broken and goes to the front door when she needs to go to the bathroom and sits when given a treat. ( I like to tell people that I am just an amazing trainer but really she is smart). We love her and we are so glad to have her as our dog!
Here she is. Don't let those eyes fool you, she is super sneaky and can be a stinker but we love her!
